Assembly of First Nations Supports Ecuadorian Plaintiffs’ Enforcement Efforts against Chevron —
National Chief Perry Bellegarde of the Assembly of First Nations and Jamie Vargas, the National Chief of CONAIE in Ecuador, signed a protocol confirming that the rights of the Ecuardorian indigenous Plaintiffs and the rights of Canada’s First Nations are inextricably linked. The Ecuadorian Plaintiffs seek to enforce a multi-billion dollar judgment from the Ecuadorian courts against Chevron in Canada.
