The Indian Residential Schools Day Scholars Class Action claims period and Deadline Extension period is now closed. The Administrator is not permitted to accept any new Claim Forms for this class action.
If a former student or descendent of a student makes a claim, and that claim is denied, under certain circumstances the claimant or descendent of the student may ask an Independent Reviewer to take another look at their claim. This is called making a Reconsideration claim. The claimant can ask Waddell Phillips for assistance in making their Reconsideration claim and they do not have to pay anything for Waddell Phillips to help them with this request.
Anyone who wishes to apply for Reconsideration has 60 days from the date that their claim is denied to submit a Notice of Intent to Seek Reconsideration. A claimant who has received a letter from Deloitte informing them that their claim has been denied can contact Waddell Phillips at the phone number or email address below for information on the Reconsideration process. Once a claimant has filed a Notice of Intent to Seek Reconsideration, we will open a file and contact the claimant about how to proceed. It is very important that we have a way to contact anyone who is seeking Reconsideration, and we will need a telephone number, email address, or a mailing address for the person making the claim.
We have a telephone line set up specifically to answer questions about Reconsideration Claims and the number is 1-888-846-5538. Any email inquiries can also be sent to the following address: reconsideration@waddellphillips.ca
After a claimant contacts us and submits the Notice of Intent to Seek Reconsideration, one of our staff will be in touch with the claimant in order to assess what information will be needed in order to complete the Reconsideration claim. Once the Reconsideration claim has been finalized, we will send it to the Independent Reviewer who will make a final determination about whether or not to approve the request. If it is accepted, the file will be sent back to Deloitte for payment and if it is rejected, we will notify the claimant.
